Suicide Blast Rocks Bannu

A suicide blast occurred near Doh Ghoda Bridge in Bannu on Tuesday, close to the Basiya Khel police station. Police confirmed that the attacker blew himself up before reaching his intended target. A body and a damaged motorcycle were found at the scene, suggesting the bomber may have been riding the bike. Law enforcement quickly reached the site and cordoned off the area. An investigation is underway to determine the target and whether the attacker had accomplices.

Authorities said the blast came just days after a successful joint operation by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police. On November 15, security forces killed five terrorists in the Takhtikhel border area of Bannu and Lakki Marwat. Officials noted that the operation was based on intelligence about militant formations operating in the region. Weapons were recovered during the raid, preventing potential attacks. This highlights the ongoing security efforts to dismantle extremist networks.

The police emphasized their readiness to respond quickly to threats and maintain public safety. The Bannu Regional Police Officer (RPO) praised the performance of CTD and local police personnel. Authorities said operations like these are part of a broader strategy to counter terrorism near border areas. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement. Coordination between local police and intelligence agencies remains crucial.

Investigators are examining the blast site to identify the bomber and trace possible links to extremist groups. Officials are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to establish a clear timeline. The police also aim to recover any explosives or devices left behind. Security forces increased patrolling in nearby areas to prevent further incidents. The ongoing investigation seeks to ensure the attacker’s network is fully dismantled.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order. Authorities said they remain fully prepared to counter any threats to the region. Officials stressed that operations against militants will continue based on actionable intelligence. The community’s cooperation is seen as vital for maintaining safety and security. Meanwhile, residents are advised to remain alert and cautious during ongoing investigations.
